Sudanese minister inspects Gadaref Water Supply Project
Hon. Mutaz Musa, the Minister of Water Resources and Electricity of the Sudan, inspected the Gadaref Water Supply Project on July 28, 2016. His Excellency was accompanied by officials from the Ministry, governmental representatives of Gadaref State as well as representatives of the Employer, the Consultant and CWE’s Project Manager Liu Yonggang.
His Excellency and the entourage arrived at the project site on 10 a.m., welcomed by nearly 100 representatives from the Employer, the Engineer, the Consultant, and the local residents. The Employer’s project manager Mustafa Hussein Alzubair Mohammed introduced the project progress in details, then his Excellency exchanged ideas briefly with CWE’s Project Manager Liu Yonggang.
His Excellency said that the Dam Complex of Upper Atbara Project was coming to a close with works done successfully and goals reached to expectation, so the Sudanese government and people thanked CTG and CWE for their efforts. Meanwhile, his Excellency encouraged CWE to make persistent efforts in construction and management to accomplish the project on schedule. Liu Yonggang expressed his appreciation to his Excellency’s attention and support to the project, and stated that CWE would exert itself to meet all contract requirements and set the project as a model work, fully demonstrating the capacity of CTG and CWE, and contributing to the friendship of China and the Sudan.
The Gadaref Water Supply Project, which is linked to the Upper Atbara Project and executed under an EPC contract of USD 55 million by CWE, will provide drinking water of 75,000m3/day upon completion, relieving the portable water shortage in Gadaref State and providing solid guarantee for the further development of Gadaref State.
