Two Scientific and Technological Achievements of Pass through Appraisal by Experts

A Scientific and Technological Appraisal Conference for CTG was convened by China Society for Hydropower Engineering (CSHE) in Beijing on 28th June, 2013, on which four scientific and technological achievements were discussed, two from CTG and two from CWE. The two from CWE; namely, the Dam Filling Technology for Dolomite Concrete-faced Rockfill Dam of Nam Lik 1-2 HPP in Laos and the Grouting Repair Technology after Thin Iron Wall Lining of Concrete Pipes with Large Diameter in Long Distance passed through the evaluation and appraisal by the expert panel.


After the procedures of achievement introduction, reference review, inquiries and discussions, the expert panal unanimously agreed that:


The Dam Filling Technology for Dolomite Concrete-faced Rockfill Dam of Nam Lik 1-2 HPP in Laos is based on the concrete-faced rockfill dam construction of the Nam-Lik 1-2 HPP in Laos. The dam filling with dolomite, of which the maximum particle size is relatively small, made the most utilization of the nearby quarry to meet the construction requirements and therefore saved the investment and brought about enormous economic and social benefits. This technology, reaching the international advanced level, was recommended to be applied in other similar projects.


The Grouting Repair Technology after Thin Iron Wall Lining of Concrete Pipes with Large Diameter in Long Distance is based on the repair work at Pipe No.AQ5 of the Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project (AWUAIP) in the Philippines. To meet the requirements for a quality construction in tight schedule with great construction difficulties, a grouting repair technology after thin iron wall lining of concrete pipes with large diameter in long distance was proposed, tested and proved successful, wining patents and bringing about enormous economic and social benefits. This technology, reaching the international advanced level, was also recommended for application in other similar projects.


These two technologies, having passed through the appraisal by experts, will be applied for the 2013 China Hydropower Science and Technology Award.
